A little more work

I have gotten a lot more finished but here is a newer picture. My goal is to have this bad boy done by Christmas and then be able to have Joe receive it after the first of the year.

A little more work on the metals

Here is a little more work done on the metals. Still have a few things to do but getting there.

Update on the Maimus figure.

I have not been able to get as much done as I would have liked. My son has been sick and a few other things put me in a slow mode. I have more done on the figure but just have not taken any pictures. Here are some until the newer ones.

A little sketch

My wife gave me a an early Christmas gift,an Itouch. I have been playing and found this app for drawing. Here is a little sketch I did. It started off with just some lines and then I thought it looked a little human.

My new figure, Maximus

Here is the start of a new figure. It is Maximus from the movie Gladiator. I am doing this one as a gift for Joe Klopfenstein. He has been really good to my sons and I wanted to just show him how much I appreciated it. He really has impressed them both and they really look up to him,thanks Joe!

I will post more as I go.

A little improvement on the diorama

I was told that I needed to add some eye candy and hats/caps to the scene,I kinda of knew it but was just a tad lazy. Gary,I appreciate the extra eyes. Anyways, here are a few new pictures. Thanks for looking.

Civil War diorama is finally finished

Well, I have finally finished up my diorama. I am really glad to see it finished but at the same time see so many things I could have done. I am pleased to know that I did buckle down and really get it done. I am thankful for my boys giving daddy a chance to work on it while they were out of school. Now, I am just ready to head to Chicago and show it and then get back home with some new ideas! Thanks for looking.

Here is one more for the group. This one is Pvt Clark. This is my little thank you to Paul Clark of Shenandoah Miniatures, with out his help I can PROMISE you I would have never gotten anywhere near completion of this diorama. It is Almost done!

Dio update with a Billy Yank

Here is a Yank that I have done for the dio. I needed to add one so the scene would look complete. I will have one other as well. This one will pair up with the Reb and the rock. It is getting really close so I hope to post the finished version soon.

A little more progress

Here is another figure for the dio. It is now looking like the total will be 9. I had originally wanted to do just 3 then had high hopes of 15 but the base and time only will allow for 9. I have really enjoyed the project and I am learning a lot so I am hopeful that I will do another in the near future.

Civil War update

Something that is different for me..SS Sturmbannfuher

Here is a new figure that I had to finish up for a collector. It is a 54 mm PIZARRO Mini natures kit of a SS Officer. I had to put my dio on hold for a little to get this one finished but I am now back at the dio. The best part of this figure I believe is the coat. I was pretty happy with it until my wife told me I needed to make it look a little more worn, good thing, she was right! I now think it is one of my better paint jobs, esp for leather.

Update on Civil War dio Officer and Reb

Here are a few pictures of the completed Officer and Reb throwing the rock. I have 4more sculpted and another one almost finished painted. It is getting close so wish me luck!

It has been tooo long!

I did not realize that it has been this long since I made any post on here. I will have to do much better.

Update on figure 4

I spoke with some others and they all agreed to make me agree, lol, that I needed to add something to this guys hand and a rock was the answer. I wanted it to look like he just grabbed it and is either going to throw it or try to smash the other figure with it. I hope it appears this way.

#4 and 5 Hand-to-Hand Civil War

Somthing different

I have always admired those who could paint or draw. I would gladly give up miniatures if I knew I could do that as well as others. I have been trying to learn and here is what I did at the end of this past year. I painted it in watercolors and pen and ink. I enjoyed it but see so many things that I could have done better if I had know at the time. Anyways, it was a gift for my wife and she likes it.

The 3rd figure for the dio

Here is the 3rd guy for the dio. I am pretty happy with him but did end up making a few changes since this picture was taken. I feel that the figures are starting to get a little better. I call this guy Big Al. I did it for my buddy. If all goes as planned he will be wearing a pair of glasses once I paint his face. Thanks for looking.

The Casualty

Here is the first casualty. I wanted to show again some movement and I had previously seen a figure by Bill Horan that was getting shot and I like the angle of the feet so that it was I was shooting, no pun intended, for with this guy.

The Officer

Here is the first figure from my dio. I wanted to have a figure showing an urgency. I was pretty happy with this guy until I started doing the others. I am thinking that he may become the first casualty and become a lone figure and resculpt another officer later.

The Civil War dio

I have decided to undertake the BIGGEST project in my miniature time. I am going to do an 11-15 figure diorama of the American Civil War. I am thinking the battle will be either the High Water mark or the Angle at Gettysburg. I would have never even thought of taking on anything like this but thanks to the persuading of my friend Mike Blank, thanks Mike, I have decided to give it a go. I have sculpted 3 of the figures so far and have 2 others close. I will post these soon.

painting a Napoleonic in White

I painted this figure back in Jan/Feb. It was for a seminar that I gave in Atlanta. It was painting whites using acrylic's. I really enjoy painting white and this gave me an excuse to paint some purple as well. The figure is a 54 mm Metal Models kit. The kit is a breeze to assemble and paint. I would recommend to anyone to buy a Metal Models kit, you won't be sorry!

I have just joined the Bloggers ranks! I guess it is time to start posting some works. I will try to keep this up to date on what I am working on and what might be on my mind. I hope that you will enjoy it and please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
